In other words, it is the ability of body to pick up the world around you and transmitting it to the brain: perception: brain"s further processing of detected signals and results in an internal representation. a. Processing of visual information occurs in a series of steps, from initial coarse processing of relatively basic features to more complex processing. Example: you would first recognize that it was a human and it would process that it was your friend. Hubel & wiesel: examined the firing rate of single cells in the primary visual cortex. Many were specialised to respond to particular features primitives . Two controlled packs of kittens: the horizontal group and the vertical group. Vertical group was raised in a world consisting entirely of vertical lines.
