The scientific study of the effects of social and cognitive processes on the way individuals perceive, influence and relate to others. Better educated soldiers had a harder time adjusting to war conditions than less educated soldiers. Southern soldiers coped better with the hot south sea island climate than northern soldiers. Soldiers from rural backgrounds were usually in better spirits during theri army life than soldiers from urban backgrounds. Opposites attract or birds of feather flock better together. Observational studies/going out into a public space where people are aware that other people can see them and unobtrusively observe people. Field study: not in a laboratory setting, but somewhere out in the real world type setting, the psychologist/researchers are manipulating something in the environment and observing the effects on the individuals. Where a researcher uses pre-existing data in order to test some hypothesis they have about the relationship between variables.
