Inappropriate or flat affect: odd thought and speech patterns, paranoia, but maintains grasp on reality, so this sets them apart from psychotic disorders. Paranoid personality disorder: distrustful and suspicious of others (4, reluctance to confide, suspicious of others, doubts loyalty of friends, suspicions of infidelity, demeaning/threatening interpretations, persistent grudges, counterattacks. Schizoid personality disorder: detachment from relationships, emotional coldness (4, little enjoyment/desire for close relationships, preference for solitary activities, little interest in sex, takes pleasure in few activities, lacks friends/confidants, emotional coldness, detachment, flat affect.
