Iconic memory: visual stimuli: lasts for fractions of a second meaning of stimuli. Iconic memory only lasts a few hundred ms; takes longer than a few hundred ms to record down the words you remembered: likely capacity of short-term/working memory rather than iconic memory, what limits performance, complexity of stimuli.
