Document Summary

In the 19th century, researchers thought the brain was one continuous network: cognitive neuroscience: the study of the physiological basis of cognition. Levels of analysis: refers to the idea that a topic can be studied in a number of di erent ways, with each approach contributing its own dimension to our understanding. Camillo golgi: used silver nitrate to stain brain slices, visualizing only 1% of neurons, allowed you to see these densely packed neurons. This forms groups of interconnected neurons, which together form neural circuits. In addition to neurons in the brain, there are also neurons that are specialized to pick up information from the environment, such as the neurons in the eye, ear, and skin. Sensory receptors: are specialized receptors that pick up information from the enviro, rather than from other neurons. Take that physical change of pain and translate it to the neurons.
