Document Summary

What we can"t say how much somebody"s genes contribute to their behaviour from a heritability estimate. But we still can make inferences about genetic contributions. In the minnesota study of twins reared apart, they were looking at monozygotic and dizygotic twins who were reared apart. Monozygotic twins more similar to each other than dizygotic ones no matter if they were raised in the same family or apart. The heritability estimate for complex traits and behaviours (cognitive tasks testing attention, personality tests etc) was between 40-80%, which is high. (nervous system chart slide 9) Allows for muscles to get blood flow, stops digestion. Parasympathetic nervous system: calm, resting, digesting, you can take care of processes of your body when you"re not under acute stress. Cranial nerves: in the pns, they project from the brain (rather than spinal chord). Help with vision, facial motor movements, sensory info. Ventricles are a system of gaps in the brain that allows csf (cerebrospinal fluid).
