General etiological factors ii: temperament and attachment: theoretical basis: taxonomies. Temperament: the style or how of behavior rather than the content (what) or purpose (why). What children can do abilities, intelligence leading to temperament. Parent and child relationships, looking at individual differences. Nine dimensions of temperament e. g. activity level, rhythmicity, approach or withdrawal, adaptability- amount we can modify and adapt to an environment, threshold of responsiveness, intensity of reaction, quality of mood, distractibility, attention span and persistence. Slow-to-warn-up temperament 13% - slow adaptability, low intensity. Goodness-of-fit: consonance, between the child and environment. Poorness-of-fit: dissonance, between the child and environment. Child may not have enough space for them to move around, eventually they will get out of their seats, low ses children may have difficulties in having the space they need. Stability: best for broadly defined categories and better during early childhood. Both genetic and non-genetic factors at play events. Defined traists as temperament if they met criteria.
