Lecture 22 (December 4 , 2012) th Morad Moazami Personality  Disorders:     Anti-­‐Social  Personality  Disorder:   • Incredibly  difficult  and  perhaps  impossible  to  treat.   • Patients  often  more  concerned  with  manipulating  their  therapist  than  changing  their   behavior.   o Even  when  they  recognize  that  their  behavior  is  maladaptive  and  the  way   they  think  about  things  is  irrational,  they  just  don’t  care  and  they  just  sort  of   toy  with  the  therapist  and  have  no  interest  in  fixing  their  behavior  or  getting   any  better.   • Limited  success  of  behavioral  therapy,  cognitive  therapy,  but  overall  prognosis  is   poor  (especially  for  those  with  psychopathic  traits).   • For  those  without  psychopathy,  anti-­‐social  behavior  tends  to  decline  after  age  40  for   reasons  that  aren't  well  known.     Childhood  Disorders     Autism:   • Applied  Behavioral  Analysis  (ABA):  An  intensive  treatment  for  autism,  based  on  the   principles  of
