Lecture 10 October 20 Memory Continued Echoic memory lasts about 2 seconds (sure I was listening. you said) Iconic memory lasts about 13 of a second (remembering something that happened very quickly and remembering it very briefly) Attention is the process that moves information from the sensory sore to short-term memory Think of attention as a spotlight everything that is not in the spot light disappears Short-term memory: A limited capacity memory system involved in the retention of info for brief periods It is used for temporary use of long-term recollections STM is like a workbench w approximately 7 items on it.
