Extend to which persistent effort is directed toward a goal. The strength of the person"s work related behaviour. The amount of effort the person exhibits on the job. The persistence that the individuals exhibit in applying effort to their work takes. The extent to which worker"s channel their persistent effort in a direction that benefits the organization. Ensuring nature of direction is not destructive but constructive. All motivated behaviour has some goal or objective toward which it is directed. Direct relationship b/t the worker and the task (usually self-applied) The work environment external to the task and is usually applied by others. Some evidence that the availability of extrinsic motivators can reduce the intrinsic motivation stemming from the task itself. Accordingly some may deem intrinsic and extrinsic motivators to be incompatible. However, it can be seen that you need a good balance of both (continuum) to keep up performance and motivation.
