Lecture One-Introduction
Social Solidarity is frequency which will people interact and the degree to which they share beliefs,
morals and values.
As a person age, they feel more socially isolated.
Suicide rates are lowest at intermediate levels of society and are highest at low/high level of social
solidarity.
A person is willing to die for the group-form of altruistic suicide.
Sociology is the systematic study of human action in a social context. It is based on the idea that our
relationship with other people that create opportunities for us to think and act differently.
