Lecture 5 Trafficking assumes that people stay alive  there are also instances where people are kidnapped for adoption  also trafficking for organs (Dr. Death)  Google :camel boys and slavery  Jockey boys -sold by parents and most are slaves, usually between 2 -7 years old  Forced marriages - (Korea) - woman is abducted and forced to be wife Hugh's is correct in this way  on chart , 2 bars on very right - proportion of trafficking that is female  people who are trafficked for labour is usually male  87% of people who are forced prostitution are female  less likely trafficked for forced later  Purple side - proportion of population that is trafficked for sexual exploitation UN implies  1) trafficked persons - no longer to be viewed as criminals but as victims of a crime  2) consent is irrelevant  conditions of work is so horrific  3) not necessary for victim to cross border  can have trafficking within an area Smuggling vs Trafficking  smugglers = consent is given , trafficking = no consent given  smuggling = exploitation ends at the boarder and control is not given to the smuggler 
