Sacred is seen as having a special power and treated with awe and respect.
Profane consist of the rest of the world. Nothing is sacred within itself. What
makes things sacred is our attitude towards them. Rituals.
3. Source of religions power. Focuses of aboriginals because they live in a
simple society. Can understand religion in its essential form. A totem
represents each religion. Aboriginal society uses animals. God and society are
one. We are in societies debt. We are in debt to the divinity. Society has a
great deal of power over us because it gives us so much. Power of sacred
comes from our experience of something outsides ourselves which is greater
