To understand (cid:498)the family(cid:499) one must understand the society. The perspective is shifted away from the individual and instead to the society. Using own personal experiences to understand and answer the questions will not be sufficient knowledge to approach this course. Lecture will provide the basic overview and the readings are not used as substitute fort the lecture but rather a complement. One of the challenges related to family: economy: financial security is something to worry about. Before making a commitment to someone(spouse) or having children, ensure they have financial security. Economy is making bad jobs; temporary, contracted jobs, no security and little benefits despite good pay. Economy is also producing lots of part-time jobs, little security, little pay and those who have part time jobs usually want a full time job. Since (cid:883)97(cid:882)s, on average, men"s earnings have gone down (cid:523)astounding(cid:524) (cid:523)men with high school degrees) People with university degrees do better than those with high school degrees.
