Capitalism has been expansionary since its inception: to survive, capitalism needs to expansion, thru colonialism - emergence of a world -system, capitalism has been expansionary in 2 ways, extensive expansion - outward geographic expansion of commodification. This can encompass the enclosure of land too. Primitive accumulation allows capitalism to func- tion because it guarantees the preconditions needed for capitalism to exist: resources, labour, market. Neoliberalism is a system that promotes the interests of private enterprises by removing any remaining barriers to capitalism"s search for resources, labour and markets. Primitive accumulation helps neoliberalism because it is needed in all the components of neoliberalism. It ensures that labour, market, resources can be found on the global level, especially in the global south which serves as an agricultural field for the global north.
