W2 357H Affect of historical timing on people’s lives Easterlin Effect:  Another thing that affects your life course is the size of your cohort (the labour market, easy of hard life…)  More people born, life will be crowed and more competition/ if a lot of siblings then competition of who will have higher education and else – parents have limited resources to offer  Entry level jobs- lots of competition and this will drive down starting wages  Small cohort e.g. depression  People holding back on kids  the want to have children, but you can’t afford a child (they have aspirations of life style, and acceptable standard of living Question for class discussion  Why would people aspire higher or lower/ people do a lot of comparison in comparing
