Meeting people online: sexual safety agreements made online may be breached in the offline sexual encounter: even when safer sex agreements were in place, in real life, they may fall apart. Widely touted benefit of online sexual negotiation may not always hold true: safer sex scripts created online can fall apart in the in-the-flesh encounter. Sexual encounters are social situations: risk engagement situated at the interactional level, no longer an individual choice some things need to be negotiated with the other person. Person feels compelled to have sex even if they were not interested. Proceeding with unwanted sexual encounters: empowerment not knowing how to extricate, social courtesy not wanting to waste partner"s time, emotional feeling sorry for a partner. Demonstrate limits on agency and asserting selves in sexual encounters as social situations: risk engagement at the interactional levels.
