We are going to look at the class perspective first. Class is a theoretical leader of inequality. Two points of view: overall inequality structure, how did people spend their lives to prove their equality. Macro perspective: how does the overall arrangement of class related to different culture, how did people born in different class background. Kids in lower class has lower performance in school since the family background is not strong. We are looking at the broad structure of inequality today: france. We are also going to look at the structure of canada today. Bourdieu"s map of france: different occupation > different lifestyles/culture, people in higher professions has privileges in terms of social power. They can use rare and valuable skills to extract lots of surpluses in the labour market to gain social power, etc e. g. , doctor, lawyer: unskilled workers: little to bring to the labour market.
