Document Summary

Before the yr 70 ad christianity was considered a movement of judaism. ** 70 ad was the destruction of the temple at jerusalem. The centre of christianity moves from jerusalem into the gentile cities. Identity was lost in judaism after this so they go in search of there identity. Ex of the cities = antioch, alexandria, rome. 100 ad christians are being excluded from the synagogue and some are prohibited from worship. As christianity is different from jewish, roman authorities become reluctant to allow christians the benefit of exemptions from idolatry because the christians were a different group they weren"t completely. Worship was something christians questioned after 70 ad. The temple is now less important and the christian rituals like breaking bread were developing. Ignatius of antioch talks about a leadership as one person (bishop) surround by others (presbyters/priests) which they are surround by others (deacons/helpers) One person is in charge of a community which would be the bishop.
