Capital -> linked to value (not necessarily linked to labour itself) Saw group of people who had labour taken away from them (perform labour but have no capital in return) - slavery: ultimately unfair way of organizing labour. Shift in development in industry: late 18th century + mid 19th - industrial revolution. More factories, fewer individual farmers -> factories could support more families -> population grew + more kids for households. Paid workers less -> main purpose = generate capital for companies - took advantage of workers. Problems: workers = pushed deeper into poverty; second impact of industrialization and ownership of wealthier people - alienation of one"s own labourer.
