Only from this semester; can bring in previous theorists as examples. Meaning (interpret films etc. as texts) i. e. kuhn. Social, historical (can be both subjective and objective), cultural context. Gain power by becoming more critical in how we deconstruct. 2nd wave feminism: movement seeking to bring equality between the genders; make aware that patriarchy and male power presence in every social structure. Voices of females were mostly upper middle class and white. 3rd wave feminism: intersectionality; abolishing all forms of oppression. Acknowledge limitations and perpetuating marginalization in 2nd wave. Stewart hall: race; images of race and meaning of representations = not concrete but socially constructed.
