Chomsky fundamentally distrusts authority; most authority is illegitimate. Core human intelligence is language > the reason why we don"t need authority. He believes that our inherent ability to create our own language comes from the language acquisition device > this is why we don"t need leadership because we have the ability to communicate. Media is entirely used for propaganda > problem with getting information from media is because we have problem getting the truth > called lters. Flaws in his theory: he says the language acquisition device is central to intelligence and communication, but doesn"t de ne it, tell us where it comes from and is therefore unclear. He also contradicts himself when he says all authority is wrong but we do need parental authority, and a government that looks after people etc. Fundamental concept started in 1940s: feminism > every relationship is based on power and power inequality creates problems.
