TITLE PAGE TRANSCRIPTION
Quasi-Facsimile Title Page Transcription
-usually brings together (in their original form) information about a work's
author, title, printer, publisher, and place and date of publication
-if it's done correctly, it can be useful to bibliographers because they can
find different editions within the seemingly similar editions
How to do transcription
-text of the title page should be copied in full, including information about
-line endings are marked by single vertical strokes : I
-there are 3 fonts that are distinguished: roman, italic and gothic (i.e.
-changes in font size between lines are not indicated
-changes of LARGE and SMALL capitals within lines are
-words printed in colour are underlined
-if your title is printed in more than one colour, a key in brackets indicting
the title's colours should introduce your transcription
"[in black and red]"
-rule (lines on the page) or other illustrations should be described in square
"[rule 6.8 cm]"
"[flower ornament 1.2 cm x 2 cm]"
