Story should not be a slave to time (because they are always shackled) Narrative represent a period in time/chunk in time. Ans: tracing cause and effect that might not be apparent without narrative. How we make sense of the world through this time and narrative. Who controls narrative (eg. alice in the wonderland) This has to do with social power relations that govern our society. Self: my notion of narrative of self, how i understand with time, comes with my understanding with media. Narratives that i come in contact with is going to have an impact on me. Who controls what stories do we read? (*very important) Our identity is being shaped when we were a child. What we are reading is very important. One thing we read: shaped by one ethnicity, our sense of self is going to reflect on that. Autonomy could spread like a disease (when one person learns how to read)
