Definition of sex basic things in it what are we talking about. Gender (each influences others in important ways think of how gender defines which acts you do in bed) Sexuality is not constant, changes over time. Compares sex to hunger we all eat would everyone want to eat the same thing? we like change food is about culture etc. Never denying physiology but arguing there is more than that. Sex is developmental: oral phase, anal phase: Freud says that baby will continue sucking on breast even when not hungry. Effects that ones body has on other people (dirty diaper = parents come change it body has power I can do things to create a reaction) Shame/humiliation taught to do in private: genital/phallic, latency period: Freud argues that before the genital phase all children think of themselves as the same no distinction between the sexes. Freud argues it is still going on subconsciously: oedipal complex (ee-da-pal)
