Violence is structural; built into the institutions of our society. Women of colour treated less well than white women in the legal system. Women of colour less likely to be taken seriously. Men of colour more likely to be convicted. Women of colour less likely to report if someone close to them is abusing them because they know they will be treated unfairly by the police. Immigrant women less likely to report violence in their community , their abuser may be their sponsor, may not speak english, may not be aware of their rights. Writing on her case, most stories didn"t mention racism. Looked at just gender instead of other things that should have been considered. The social and economic marginaliztion of indigenous women, indigenous women aren"t as protected by the police, less response when they go missing. Walk 4 justice- activists start cross country trek for missing indigenous women.
