John von neumann: wrote 55g summary on how to built computers ( explanation of what is needed and how it works. Alan turing: broke the german naval code which was considered unbreakable . Conceived computer (enigma) to do that task. Mainframe computer: made for big organizations (government, collecting stats, banking, airlines) -> training was needed to operate. 1960-1970 ( mini-computer + large scale integrated circuit) Mini computer: fridge size, affordable -> made for smaller manufacturers. Made for the eld of business accounting, laboratories ( for experiments), use of switch boards.
