The soviet union did not participate in the marshall plan, they came up with their own : the molotov plan. For the communists, the atomic bomb on japan was both the last shot of wwii and the first shot of the cold war. The westerners tend to focus on the takeover of russia over western europe. One of the main stages in the cold war : march 1946, churchill is in the us. This shows the bad relations between us and ussr which can be seen by some as the beginning of the war. Usually it is between the drop of the atomic bomb, maybe the iron. Curtain speech and 1948 : the coup in czechoslovakia. Even in the time of the berlin crisis, stalin is hoping to open back cooperation. 1947-49, stalin is seeking a security line in europe. Even the czech who were allied with the ussr are not trusted, stalin is tightening his grip.
