They thought they could resolve the conflict in a few months, so they didn"t send a lot of troops to america to fight. Thought that the americans, if left alone for a while could become strong trading partners. The border has already been set, great lakes and the 49th parallel. 1775 george washington becomes the president and is in full control of the army. American goal is to invade and conquer quebec. Americans invite canadians to help them overthrow the british, wanted to keep their native american alliances. Americans think that the french citizens in quebec are oppressed. You are a small people, compared to those who with open arms invite you into a fellowship. Governor and the church thinks that the habitants will rise up against the americans.
