In this example, the slight difference in sound between /t/ and /d/ has a phonetic change that is meaningful to the english language. These phonetic sound changes can effect or not effect certain languages. Phonology is the influence in meaning in human languages. In this example, there are two different types of l"s, separated in its respected group. Linguistics is the study of language and finding patterns in languages, whether it"s looking at an isolated language or looking across multiple languages. The different sounds of the same letter but in different contexts can completely change meanings or interpretations of words in some languages. Representation (depending on the language) some words have one meaning, some have many complex meanings.
