When talking of indigenous women, the focus is on race and gender, no sex (referring to sexuality. Sakia gunn was a black lesbian, hanging out with a group of lesbian couple friends, some guys strode up to try to pick them up. They told they were gay, he stabbed sakia, she bled out. Davis says that the focus in this case was on black female violence, and left out her sexual orientation. This is a term meaning for when marginalized people move against the public and create their own public, or community. It is a reaction to the general public. Fogg-davis says that this privileges black patriarchy and the homosexual black female over black lesbians. Like black liberal politics, the emphasis is on race. No one wants to trouble the waters of the community or the counterpublic because the message to the public or the government is that the people in the counterpublic don"t know what they"re doing.
