With lumber, we are interested in the amount of secondary growth to get the boards as big as possible. Agriculture, look at different parts of the plant. Without flowers, we cannot have the male and female reproductive parts and therefore cannot talk about what is happening within the flower (which is the haploid portion of the life cycle) What we like about flowers is not necessarily good for nature. Why are flowers important for nature: they attract pollination. Tulips are a big deal, and they have been historically: in places like the netherlands, we are given tulips every year from netherlands as a thank you for letting royalty stay in canada in history. Flower is composed (usually) of both male and female reproductive structures. Male structures stamens: made in anther, anther has pollen chamber (where pollen is produced, held high by filaments, stamen is made up of anther and filaments.
