Even something pretty can be caused by pollution. Artificial conditions mess up natural scheme of movement of elements. Extra amounts change the factors affecting residence time. Geochemical cycles or biogeochemical cycles- repetitive arrangement of events. It is in solution with the rest of the surface runoff and it goes into the ocean. In the ocean, new sea floor is made at the center of an oceanic ridge: divergent plate boundary, igneous intrusions, volcanic activity, calcium minerals. Calcium is removed from minerals by leaching effects of sea water. Calcium is being taken out of sea water by invertebrates (which float or occupy sea floor) and vertebrates (which are free swimming) Organisms die and sink to bottom of ocean.
