First wave: we make mistakes about objects from far away. No; he just hasn"t disproved it: this would attack mathematics. As hard as i try, i cannot doubt my own existence . As soon as i doubt, i am engaged in thought. As i engage in thought, then i must be thinking - there must be something doing the thinking. As soon as i doubt that i exist, i have proven that i exist - nothing can"t think, something must be thinking. Does not yet know that anything in the physical world exists: doesn"t know his body or brain exists. I am a thing that thinks, doubts, and has experiences (or is aware of having experiences, at least); i am a thinking thing. Concludes that whatever the thinking thing is, it"s not physical. I know mind better than i know body; back to the visible world vs. intelligible world. Mind: res cogitans (thinking substance), thinking thing.
