Being able to vote and being consider to run for president. People being able to become president despite income/background. Norway has almost 50/50 gender split in parliament. If you don"t vote, quality of democracy deteriorates bc not everyone is being heard. Transition: drafting first constitutions, different groups agree on design of country. 2nd step consolidation: once change happens you don"t fear it"s going to change for the worse. Time consuming: you need to educate yourself on many things. Submissions of an issue of public importance to the direct vote of the electorate. One last country relies a lot on direct democracy: switzerland. A type of vote to change the constitution or gov. Public is asked to vote very often in switzerland. Voter turn out: 45-55% but they meet more often. Popular initiatives need to be supported by 100k people. More common and stable in modern politics. Results in important changes in a democracy.
