Wilson defined it as systematic study of the biological basis of all social behavior. Darwin"s survival of the fittest: make copies of yourself, survive. Implies physical size, strength, aggression, but this is not always true. Believed that by chance alone, a feature was advantageous. Some behaviors are natural to us (like a whispering, or gentle nudge, to do things, like the unconscious) Inclusive fitness: the tendency to look out for our own similar genes (more likely to help others who look like us) Air florida flight in 1982: snowing like crazy. Man helps priscilla reach the rope, named man of the year, whereas middle-aged balding man passes away. Kin altruism: putting family, similar people, before others.
