Conlict arises from the pursuit of basic human needs. Needs can be categorized as primary survival needs or secondary learning needs. Conlict arises because needs are not being met, what happens when trying to meet needs- Needs met through gaining some sort of saisier through some sort of tacic. Burton"s warning of danger when the tacic becomes the saisier. I. e. we focus on our tacics so much that we lose sight for what the tacic is supposed to achieve. Since basic needs are common to all humans, it should be possible to help opposing sides recognize that they share the same goals. Values and needs stated within the context of ideologies can distort meanings and cause too much focus on tacics-ideologies get in the way in seeing the values and needs of both sides. Challenge to cut through the fog of tacics and ideologies and focus on common goals.
