Document Summary

Encapsled in a very tough membrane, called sclera. The term outer/inner refers to the center of the eye. Ie something closer to the center is an inner structure and something close to the outside is an outer structure. Sclera is continuous with cornea, choroid is continuous with ciliary body. The main thing in the eye ball is the vitreous body; gel like fluid in the inner portion of the eye. The lens is suspended between ciliary bodies by ligaments, the ciliary body is a ring, a round ciliary muscle that"s connected to fibers and lens. If you look far away the ciliary muscle is relaxed, therefore a wide opening. The zonula fibers are stretched, and so they stretch the lens along. If you look at closer things, the ciliary muscle constrict, so the opening is smaller. The fibers loosen up and the elastic lens becomes more round. As you get older the lens looses some of the elasticity.
