Document Summary
Feel free to email me (oneclass512475@gmail. com) if you have any questions or don"t understand something! Identify 3 major subdivisions of the brain stem (pons, midbrain, medulla) and describe the anatomic relationships of the major motor and sensory nuclei and the major descending and ascending tracts in the brainstem. Know the main structures and connections of the cerebellum. The 3rd ventricle separates the thalamus hemispheres by running midline. Cerebrospinal fluid (csf) is made in the lateral ventricles and drains into the third ventricle. From the third ventricle, it flows through the cerebral aqueduct into the fourth ventricle. The fourth ventricle sits ontop of pons and medulla oblongata, and is in continuous connection with the spinal canal via the central canal. The cerebellum is located under the occipital lobe and does motor control. The ventral side of the brain stem contains a lot of cranial nerves, bringing information from the head and neck areas.
