Anatomy and Cell Biology 3319 Lecture Notes - Lecture 26: Stretch Reflex, Fascial Compartment, Humerus
Document Summary
Muscles of the upper limb: shoulder and arm. Medial rotation : rotate in, palms to face backwards. Circumduction : shoulder joint we have a cone and the tip of cone at shoulder. Note that the middle finger of the hand is considered the midline: so abducting is moving fingers away from the middle finger, and vice versa for adduct. To retract: the trapezius and rhomboids are retractors: these work as synergists and help build power. Ulna: olecranon process: the tip of the elbow, notch of the ulna: slides aroujnd the trochlea of the humerus. Radius and ulna articulate with each other at the proximal radioulnar joint and also at the distal radioulnar joint. In this picture there is a picture of a typical colte"s fracture: hairline fracture of radius. Proximal end of the ulna: articulates with the trochlea: through the olecranon. This joint allows flexion and extension at the elbow joint.
