Primary sex organs: gonads (ovaries, produce gametes (ova, the germ cells, secrete sex hormones which help regulate the female system, estrogen, progesterone. Secondary sex organs: successful fertilization and development, carry ovum to a place where it can be implanted and fertilized, external genitalia, vagina, uterine tubes, uterus, mammary glands. Ovary uterine tube and travel to the midline towards the uterus (muscular sac where implantation and development occurs: eventually through the vagina to be delivered as a baby, ovary is the primary sex organ. Rather than focusing on copulation, most of these structures are focused on development and nurturing of the fetus. Urinary bladder is attached from its apex to the anterior abdominal wall by the median umbilical ligament. Closely related to the urinary bladder is the uterus. Intervenes between the urinary bladder and the rectal and anal canal in the back. Ovarian ligament: from the ovary to the uterus: not labeled on this diagram, minor role in supporting the ovary.
