Anatomy and Cell Biology 3319 Lecture 4: ANATOMY-L4
Document Summary
Function: motor: coordinate speed and strength of movements, cognition, learning, emotions. Need something to assist (connectivity) premotor cortex (plans movement) and motor cortex (sends command) Connections w/in cortex that stays on one side of hemi. Short association: from 1 gyrus to next eg. from primary stomaosensory to stomata association. Want to send info from wernicke"s to lo(cid:272)us (cid:894)fro(cid:373) parietal lo(cid:271)e to fro(cid:374)tal(cid:895) *using projection fibres there is going to be output from cortex to basal ganglia. Looked like a lense, though 1 structure but actually 2. Made of globus which is medial to putamen. Appears to be 2 structures but functionally related. Amygdaloid body: part of basal ganglia anatomically even though not considered. There is another region that is critical for clinical issues (parkinson, skit) Clinicians include other parts of brain when talk about basal. Critically involved in pathways so books tend to mention them.
