Document Summary

Vitreous humor: gel like substance contained within the vitreous body. Neuro plate: ns develop during early gestation out of neuro plate (ectodermal structure, neural plate folds and detaches from surface of embryo, forms neural tube which then forms the brain. Optic vesicle: grow out to ectodermal surface & specialize, develops to future retinal development epithelium & neural retina, induces formation of lens placode, derived from neural ectoderm of embryo. Lens placode: eventually invaginate, detach, and form lens, epithelium of cornea & lens are derived from ectodermal surface of embryo. Everything else is derived from mesoderm of embryo. Bruch"s membrane: inner most, basal lamina of opposing rpe & endothelial cells, translucent; becomes thicker as we grow older. Choriocapillaris: fenestrated capillaries, supplies nutrients to the outer retina! Choroidal stroma: contains large vessels, nerves, collagen, fibroblasts and melanocytes, melanocytes why choroid is so dark.
