Anatomy and Cell Biology 3319 Lecture 3: Lower Limbs
Document Summary
Ll-1: pelvic girdle and muscles of the anterior thigh. Flexion of the leg: heel back at knee. Extension of the leg: foot up at knee. Obturator formane: the obturator nerve and vessels pass through this foramen (hole). It is also the site of attachment for the obturator externus and obturator internus muscles. Ischial tuberosity: large boney pertruberance on the ischeal bone. This is the attachment site for the: hamstring muscles (semimembranosus, semitendinosus, biceps femoris), quadratus femoris muscle, inferior gemellus muscle, sacrotuberous ligament. Greater sciatic notch: lies between the ischial spine and the posterior inferior iliac spine. The sacrospinous and sacrotuberous ligaments attach at either end of the notch to form the greater sciatic foramen for the passage of the sciatic nerve as well as other nerves and vessels. Lesser sciatic notch: found at the edge of the ischium. It lies between the ischial spine and tuberosity.
