Unit 2 : the beginning of human culture. Key questions : to what group of animals do humans belong, when and how did human culture evolve, when and how did humans evolve, what were the significant developments in the upper paleolithic. Hominid dental formula : 2 incisros ( teeth at front) , 1 canine , 2 premolars and 3 molars (2-1-2-3) Aboreal lifestyle encouraged emphasis on vision , specifically 3d vision. Ie in tree you need to judge depth distance ect. Brain : increase in cerebral hemispheres , the areas of the brain to do with conscious though ie bigger and bigger brains. Skeleton longer spinal cord much shorter forearms then previous hominids. Try to simplify complex behaviour ie nurturant females / aggressive males. Primates are so varied that its not difficult to find one or several examples of almost any point one wishes to make.
