Document Summary

Astronomy chapter 4: making sense of the universe. Tells us how far something will go in a given amount of ime. If the velocity changes in anyway (speeding up, turning, slowing down) All objects accelerate by the same amount regardless of mass. The acceleraion of gravity on earth is 10m/s^2. Without air resistance the speed will increase by that amount unil the object hits the ground. The concepts of speed, velocity, and acceleraion describe how an individual object moves. An object"s momentum is the product of its mass and its velocity (momentum=massxvelocity) The only way to change an objects momentum is to apply a force to it: force: an interacion between objects that can change momentum. Net force (overall force) acing on an object represents the combined efect of all the individual forces put together: if net force is non-zero, a change of momentum occurs (usually an acceleraion) Mass is the amount of mater in your body.
