Interviewing the essentials of being a journalist. Make a list of questions beforehand and refer to them, but also flow with the conversation if it goes off on interesting. Consider using a recorder when quotations and colour are important but learn how to take notes while interviewing too recorders cannot work so it"s good to take notes too. Ask a review question at the end that allows subject to reiterate or add important points not covered let them say anything else they want to play. Always double check how a person spells their name. Open-ended questions work well, don"t ask something that gets a straight yes or no question unless that"s all you want. Ask questions that give you the info you want or touch on the topic/angle you"re trying to get. Don"t hit them right away with tough ones, get them talking first distance yourself from a critique if necessary.
