Age structure and population growth how fast it"s growth is and how fast it will continue to grow. Characteristics of population can affect population growth rates. Population of individuals that are too young to reproduce (pre reproductive) vs. those in the reproductive age group vs. individuals too old to reproduce (post reproductive) Gradually decreases in width as age increases. Females age structure- it"s what is going to drive this pyramid. Similar in pre reproductive and reproductive stages and gradually decreases as it gets to post reproductive. Neither growing nor shrinking in population size. Population is probably going to shrink over time. Summarize survival and reproduction for a cohort of individuals. Classifies typical life span of species of population being studied into age class. Doesn"t care about reproduction rates and how many offspring were produced in a time interval. Can infer when in the life span most mortality happens. Type 1: for vertebrates, large animals (in terms of body size)
