Caterpillar pupate then turns into moth holometabolous development. Have this behaviour associated with pupating then we get into mating and reproduction. Regulation of these events are controlled almost entirely by hormones. Prothoracic glands secrete a factor necessary for development. Secretion from the prothoracic region determines pupation.
