As tribune of the plebs in 133 bce, gracchus in scipio"s absence proposed a law to address the question of land-reform. The proposed law involved the confiscation of land (ager publicus) and its redistribution to those who needed it. Gracchus submitted the law to the plebs without discussion in the senate. The law was vetoed by marcus octavius, and in response gracchus had him removed from office. Gracchus ignored the senate"s will on foreign policy.
